Brookfield Happening Now

A resident of Brookfield since 1986, I have lived in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Ohio and settled in the Milwaukee area in 1978. I think I can see issues from many different perspectives.

Who should bailout the auto industry?

Besides all the supporting companies and the people who work for them, who would be one of the biggest beneficiaries? It may seem paradoxical, when there is such a demand for more fuel efficient vehicles, but why not let the oil industry dip into those huge profits they have posted?

I think your question should be..."Should anyone bail out the auto industry?"  My answer would be..."NO".  Let them and the union clean up their own mess.

Hi Jack, letting the auto industry go into chapter 11 will offer them the opportunity to reorganize and get rid of the dead wood that they have to support that came about during the profitable days and they gave the unions what they wanted . The auto makers that make it through a chapter 11 will be leaner. This will make way for more dollars into research for better fuel efficiency. Some people will have tears in their ears but that is the way of the world.

The open market will straighten things out once the smoke clears. Clearly there will be damage but so be it, the auto industry will survive with a chance at cosmetic surgery to some old scars that need to be removed.

Big oil will now take a shot to the knee caps, as you can see the price of gas has gone off a cliff in a way shorter time than it climbed the cliff. Capitalism works, kind of rough once in a while.
